Q: How do I care for my canvas? A: When cleaning canvas you want to use a non-detergent safe soap, preferably a boat soap.  The key is to rinse all of the soap off of the canvas before drying. Recommended - IMAR Yacht Soap Concentrate #401. Q: Can I wash the canvas in a washing machine? A: Not recommended! The best thing to do is lay it out and scrub it with a deck brush and Soap. Recommended - IMAR Yacht Soap Concentrate #401. Q: How do I care for my StrataGlass windows? A: For regular cleaning day to day water and a soft towel is fine, however to keep the windows in top shape use IMAR StrataGlass Cleaner #301 once or twice a month, use the IMAR StrataGass polish about every 2 to 3 months or when needed. By doing this your windows will look like they did when the canvas was new. Recommended - IMAR StrataGlass Cleaner #301 and IMAR StrataGlass Polish #302.  Q: Why should I use the IMAR Products? A: IMAR Products are specifically made for the marine environment, protecting and extending the life of your canvas, vinyl windows, gel-coat, and so much more. by using the IMAR products your Boat will look great for many years. And all products are guaranteed to work. Recommended - All IMAR Products. Q: Can I restore my vinyl windows? A: For the most part it will depend on what's wrong with the window. If you have fog or a yellowing of the windows likely the wrong cleaners had been used leaving a film on the windows burnt in by the sun. If the windows are just scratched, the StrataGlass Cleaner and StrataGlass Polish could eliminate much of the scratching, however IMAR is more for preventive use than restoration. By using IMAR you could actually decrease the amount of time you spend cleaning your boat, IMAR products are meant to work as a complete cleaning system. For example IMAR yacht soap concentrate will not take the polish or wax off of your boat but it will take off the grime, leaving you to polish and wax less often. Using a dish soap or some other detergent soap is not only hurting your enclosure it's also hurting your gel-coat and your vinyl seats, bringing the value of the boat down and making more work for you to restore. A: Pre-made products are made from template fit loose to make sure it will do the job, poorly but do the job never the less. Custom products are made for that specific project and not a copy of a copy. Two of the exact same boat are not exactly the same. Recommended - Always go custom. Q: How long will pre-made "templed" canvas last? A: That will depend on the type of material the product is made out of generally 1 to 3 years. Recommended - Go custom. Q: How long will my custom canvas last? A: Made by That Canvas Guy or by a quality custom shop, 8 to 15 years depending on care. Recommended - IMAR Products. Q: How long will my StrataGlass last? Q: How long before I have to do a resew? A: Depending on the exposure to the sun and elements, around 4 to 6 years. Recommended - As soon as you notice stitching pulling out. Q: How do I care for the Zippers? A: Use a silicone spray or a product like zippy cool every 3 to 6 months . Recommended - Silicone spray. Q: Should I use my old canvas for a template? A: Only in some cases. To ensure a quality fit and satisfaction remake the item from scratch.  Recommended - Go custom. Q: How long before I need to water proof my canvas? A: Well SunBrella canvas has a 10 year guarantee so I guess no earlier than 10 years.  Recommended - Get new canvas. Q: Why StrataGlass? Q: Price: Pre-made "V" Custom? A: Pre-made products are actually more expensive than custom, do the math. A pre-made storage boat cover "copy of a copy" will last approximately 1 to 3 years at $400 to $600 a pop, plus $340 to alter for tower mounts, ouch! $840 for a 2 year cover. Let's say 2 years at $500 that's $.68 a day / $24.04 a month, plus Gas and Time to get a new cover every 2 years. Is it worth it? A Custom Travel Cover with Full Reinforcement from That Canvas Guy! will last approximately 8 to 10 years and longer at $1300 to $1400 on average - let's say 8 years at $1300 that's $.44 a day / $13.20 a month, at 6 years that's $.59 a day /$17.70 a month, let's say $1600 by 8 years - that's $.55 a day / $16.50 a month. Recommended - Go custom. Q: How long will 20 mil rolled vinyl window material last? A: On average 1 to 2 years.  Recommended - Depends on the project. Q: Can I use IMAR on any type of vinyl window? A: Try buffing with IMAR x3 Compound, polish with IMAR Yacht Polish then use IMAR Yacht Clean and Shine to give it that wet look.
